Bio

​

Márcio Vilela was born in 1978 in Recife, Brasil.

He lives and works in Lisbon. In 2006 he finished the Photography degree of “Escola Superior de Tecnologia de Tomar” and became a teacher there between 2008 and 2014. He was selected for the awards “Anteciparte 2008″ and “Descubrimientos – PhotoEspaña 2009″. In 2012 he presented the project “Mono” in Carpe Diem – Art e Pesquisa” the result of a two years art residency in this institution. In that same year he was selected for “Abre Alas 8″ promoted by the Gallery “A Gentil Carioca”. Still in 2012 he performed a residency in São Miguel’s Island, Azores invited by Fonseca Macedo Gallery that resulted the series “Azores”. In 2014 returns to Recife for a residency in “MAMAN no Pátio”, a work still in progress. In 2016 he was awarded with a scholarship for the European Master of Fine Art Photography in “IED” Madrid.

Currently he’s working on “The Blue chromatic study”, “Drift prediction” and a study of satelites and comunication (still untitled).

His work is represented in the Collection “António Cachola” and other private collections. He’s represented by Slowtrack Society.
